Why do we celebrate Brahmotsavam?

As per Hindu Mythology, Lord Brahma who was the creator of the world started this festival. On the banks of the Pushkarini in Tirupati, he worshipped Sri Balaji to praise him for the mankind’s protection. Thus Brahmotsavam festival started from the name of Lord Brahma.

Brahmotsavam

The Hindu festival is held in the month of September or October for nine days. It is organized each year at Tirumala Venkateswara Temple at Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh in India.

Every year thousands of devotees flock to Tirumala Venkateswara Temple. Before the start of the festival in the evening the Ankurarpana ritual is followed in which seeds are sown which signify abundance, fertility and prosperity together with the Sri Vishvaksena festival. On the first day the Garuda flag is hoisted s hoisted close to the Srivari Alaya Dhwajasthambham.

During the nine days, the religious activities can be seen in the temple which includes daily homas and processions for the event statue on different chariots.
