Why do we celebrate Brij Festival?
The Brij festival is dedicated to Lord Krishna. It is celebrated in the month of March, a few days before Holi in Bharatpur, Rajasthan in India.
The villagers perform the popular Raslila dressed in various outfits depicting the immortal love between Lord Krishna and Radha. During the festival young men, women and old persons sprinkle colors on each other. In the morning devotees take bath in the holy waters of Banganga River.
After that they assemble at the temple of Shri Radha Krishnaji. It is believed that the holy water will purify their souls. The devotees then visit the temples of Lord Shiva, Ganga Bihari, Hanuman, and matha of Goswamiji.Category: February, Hinduism, India, March
