Why do we celebrate Charta Festival?

Charta Festival is the celebration of harvest festival by tribal communities of Chhattisgarh. It is observed in beginning of the month of January or towards the end of December in the district Koriya, Chhattisgarh in India.

People prepare special mid day meal on this day. After that for collecting rice, the children go to each home of the village. Later on the banks of water bodies married females cook it. Men and women sing and dance waiting for the grand feast. This grand feast is then eaten and enjoyed by all village people.
