Why do we celebrate Jaipur Literature Festival?

The Jaipur Literature Festival is a literary festival founded by Faith Singh as an initiative of Jaipur Virasat Foundation in 2006. It is a celebration of national and international writers and presents a range of activities including theatre, music and film.

It is held in the month of January in the pink city of Jaipur, Rajasthan in India. It usually takes place in the Hall of Audience, gardens of the Diggi Palace in the city center.

The festival is produced by Sanjoy Roy of Teamwork Productions and the directors of the festival are the writers-William Dalrymple and Namita Gokhale. Various eminent authors like Shashi Tharoor, Mohammad Hanif, Kiran Desai, Vikram Seth, Christopher Hampton, Ian McEwan, Nadeem Aslam, Salman Rushdie, Pico Iyer, Anushka Shankar, Simon Schama, Donna Tartt, Tina Brown, and John Berendt had visited to attend the festival.
