Why do we celebrate Jhiri Fair?

Jhiri fair is held to pay homage to brave farmer Baba Jit Mal who is popularly known as Baba Jitto. For the liberation of the farming community he sacrificed his life.

It is organized in October or November month. The fair takes place annually at Shama Chak Jhiri village in Jammu in India.

The fair lasts for many days. People from all across India come to pay tribute to Baba Jit Mal. There are numerous exhibitions organized during the fair which includes vases, toys, pottery, utensils and books of Baba Jihu. The devotees come to take a dip in the holy water of “Babe- da- Talab”. It is considered that the holy water will heal all skin problems.
