Why do we celebrate Karni Mata Fair?

Karni Mata Fair is held to pay tribute to Karni Mata who followed a disciplined life and devoted her entire life to the service of deprived communities and poor.

The fair takes place at Deshnok, a small town near Nokha in Bikaner, Rajasthan in India. It is held twice a year in the month of March or April and in the month of September or October.

At Deshnok, the temple of Karni Mata is made of marble and stone structure. By ornaments made of gold and garments, the idol is decorated. People come from all over places to worship the idol of Karni Mata. On this auspicious day the Rajputs bring their children for hair cut. The rats are worshiped by the devotees.
