Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Jayanti is celebrated in honor of Swami Dayanand Saraswati’s birthday.
He was born on 12th February 1824 in Tankara, Gujarat in India. He founded Arya Samaj in 1875.The purpose of establishing Arya Samaj was to enhance the social, spiritual and physical conditions of the society. He preached against Hindu traditions of polytheism, untouchability, child marriages, idol worship, caste by birth, and the discrimination against females.
