Why do we celebrate Milad-un-Nabi?

Milad-un-Nabi is a Muslim festival which is celebrated to commemorate the birthday of Mohammad Prophet. Milad-un-Nabi is also known by the name of Barawafat or Mawlid. He disclosed the Holy Quran which is the religious book of Muslims.

According to the Islamic lunar calendar the birthday of Mohammad Prophet falls on 12th month of Rabi-ul-Awwal. The festival is celebrated by the Muslims of India and throughout world where Muslim communities’ live.

While taking part in the event, plentiful people wear green ribbons and carry green flags or banners. Green color signifies Islam and heaven. The event includes huge procession, praying for the whole night, cooperative feast in mosques and other community buildings, various exhibitions that highlights the photos of Mecca and Madina mosques of Saudi Arabia.
