Why do we celebrate Navchandi Fair?

The Navchandi Fair was started in 1672 AD for cattle traders. According to a myth, Ravan’s wife Mandodari was born in a demon’s house in Meerut. She built a temple in honor of Goddess Chandi. Since then this religious festival is celebrated in the month of February or March. It takes place annually in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh in India for cattle traders.
