Why do we celebrate Tarpa Festival?

The Tarpa is a famous dance festival that derives its name from the prominent Dadra and Nagar Haveli folk dance. The festival is devoted to multicolored folk dance of the area. It is organized each year from 26th to 31st December at Dadra and Nagar Haveli in India.

The festival displays folk dances, a number of cultural events, painting tattoos, swimming races, and drawing rangolis. The Tarpa dance festival is held at night with the help of musical instrument called Tarpa and it continues till midnight. The folk songs are also sung by the dancers.
