Why do we celebrate Hampi Festival?

Hampi Festival also known as Hampi Utsav or Vijaya Utsav is celebrated to honor royal heritage of Hampi.

It is celebrated generally from 3rd to 5th November at Hampi, Karnataka in India. Hampi is located about 350 km away from Bangalore. It is the former capital of the Vijayanagara Empire and is a cultural event celebrated since the Vijayanagar rule.

The major attractions of the festival are music highlights, fireworks, dance, drama and puppet show. Various skilled artists from all over India are invited to perform music, dance and drama before the public during the three day event. Tourists can also observe gorgeously decorated horses, elephants and men dressed in Vijayanagara era military uniform in various lanes of Hampi.
