Why do we celebrate Kaila Devi Fair?

Kaila Devi Fair presents the rituals and ancient tradition of Rajasthan. The fair is dedicated to Mahalakshmi who is the goddess of wealth.

It is held annually in the month of Chaitra that is in March or April on the banks of Kalisil River that is 2 km away from Kaila village in Karauli, Rajasthan in India.

Over two lakh people visit Kaila Devi temple every year to worship. The other attractions of the fair are adjacent Bhairon temple and Hanuman temple. The pilgrims bring with them cash, coconuts, sweets and bangles to offer to the goddess. The devotees follow a ritual by covering a distance of 20 kilometers by making lines with their hand and lying flat. Many shops sell variety of local articles.
