Why do we celebrate Toshali National Crafts Fair?

Toshali National Fair is a crafts festival that provides a colossal opportunity from around the country for various skilled craftsmen, artists, sculptors, painters, weavers and other SAARC nations to exhibit their creativity.

The 12 or 13 day long fair falls in the month of December. It is observed in Bhubaneswar city in Orissa State in India.

The artisans display their best handlooms and handicrafts which are as follows:
1 Chiki woodcraft from Kashmir
2 Kanjivaram from the South
3 Print works of Patola and Bandhni from Gujarat and Rajasthan
4 Kantha from Tripura and West Bengal
5 Ikat of Orissa
6 Cane craft from North East
7 Wood and Cane inlay work from South India
8 Oxidized jewellery, sea-shell decorations from Rajasthan
9 Chikan from Lucknow

In spite of this many colourful cultural programmes, handloom weaving, sand art, painting; on hand training on stone sculpture and food stalls adds variety to the fair.
