Why do we celebrate Akshaya Tritiya?

Akshaya Tritiya or Akha Teej is an auspicious day of the birthday of Lord Parasurama who is the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. On this day Veda Vyas and Lord Ganesha began to write Mahabharata. The meaning of the word Akshaya is infinite that which never recede.

It is a prosperous day that takes place in Vaishakh month on Shukla Paksha that is in the month of April or May. It is celebrated all across India.

On this day people take dip in holy water, organize prayer, offer barley in a sacred fire, worship Lord Ganesha, Devi Lakshmi and do charity.
