Why do we celebrate Barbanki Fair?

The Barbanki is a Muslim religious fair dedicated to commemorate Sufi saint Haji Waris Ali Shah’s divine shrine.

Barbanki Fair

Barbanki or Deva fair takes place between the month October and November. The fair is held at Deva which is 10 km. from Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh in India.

The Muslim pilgrims from al over India and overseas visit Deva to pay tribute to Muslim saint Haji Waris Ali Shah. The 10 day fair commence with the ceremony of presentation of cloth sheet. On the tombs of Haji Sahib, Silk sheets are placed. The cultural activities like Music Conference, poetry coterie, Debate and Mushaira are performed. People participate in various games and the cattle fair is also organized.
