Why do we celebrate Bikaner Camel Festival?

The Bikaner Camel Festival is organized by the Department of Tourism and Art and Culture of Rajasthan to glorify the contribution of the ship of the desert known as camel, especially in the heart of the people of Rajasthan.

It is celebrated in the month of January in Bikaner, Rajasthan in India. It attracts lot of tourists from all over the world to visualize the lovely culture of Rajasthan.

The two day festival starts with a parade of beautifully decorated camels that march gracefully before the Junagarh Fort. The visitors visualize camel dances, camel races, neck shaking camel rides, camel milking competition, camel fur cutting competition and camel performances. The procession concludes at the Polo grounds. The scene looks awesome when the camel dances on the musical tunes and drumbeats in the golden sand while the sun is setting. There are various stalls of handcraft items. Visitors are made available tea and sweets which are prepared from camel’s milk. At night famous musicians from Rajasthan and local folk performers entertain the crowds.
