Why do we celebrate Bridge Day?

The Bridge Day is a prominent sports event that was commenced for the base jumpers to jump over New River Gorge Bridge. Only on this day they are given liberty to jump from the bridge. The first man to jump off the bridge was Burton Ervin on 1st August, 1979. It is held on the third Saturday in October at New River Gorge Bridge in Fayette County, West Virginia in the United States.
