Why do we celebrate Feast of San Gennaro?

The Feast of San Gennaro is a cultural, folk and heritage festival that was first celebrated as a one day religious ceremony by new arrived immigrants from Naples on 19th September 1926. The Feast of San Gennaro was a traditional celebration for Saint Gennaro who was martyred for the faith in 305 A.D in Naples. It is the most famous and longest religious festival that takes place on the second Thursday in September in New York in the United States.

The festival is now celebrated for11 days which highlights religious march, colorful parades, world famous cannoli-eating competition, wide variety of ethnic food delicacies, free musical entertainment and charming restaurants and cafes.
