Why do we celebrate Desh Prem Diwas?

Desh Prem Diwas or Netaji Jayanti is celebrated to commemorate Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s birthday. He was a great patriot who fought for the freedom of India.

It is celebrated on 23rd January each year. The day is celebrated throughout India to honor this great leader.

Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose believed that by using violence only one can free India from the bondage of British rule. He was elected as the President of Indian National Congress twice but had to leave due to differences with Mahatma Gandhi who believed in non violence. Then he established All India Forward Bloc. He had a great contribution in India’s independence.

Many N.G.O’s organize Blood Donation Camps on this day. Schools celebrate the occasion to encourage fighting spirit among the students. The schools organize various activities as annual prize distribution ceremony, cultural programs, debates, exhibition, extempore, quiz competition and sports.
